Kojo Peprah Oppong is twenty-two, was born in Accra and a little over a year ago was playing in Sweden. On 28 August 2026 OGC Nice and Fenerbahçe announced his permanent transfer in two official statements, and the following day he signed in Istanbul, in the stadium where he had played as an opponent less than a year earlier. From Accra to Sweden, by way of the second division
Oppong came through the Attram De Visser Soccer Academy, then joined IFK Norrköping in 2023. The start was painfully slow: in 2023 he played a single Allsvenskan match and three in the cup, and ended up on loan at GIF Sundsvall, in Superettan, the Swedish second tier. There he found the pitch: 11 league appearances in 2023 and 27 in 2024, 12 and 30 counting the cups. Back at Norrköping came 15 Allsvenskan appearances and 20 in all competitions, before the move to France on 25 July 2025 cut his Swedish season short.
Ligue 1 opened the national team door: a Ghana debut on 12 October 2025 against Comoros, 6 caps and no goals as of 27 June 2026, the call-up from Carlos Queiroz for the World Cup and minutes in the group stage.

The most solid number is the most basic one: how often the manager put him on the pitch. In Ligue 1 that means 29 appearances, 28 of them as a starter, 2,428 minutes, a little over 83 minutes a game on average. Third clue, discipline: 4 yellow cards and no red in 2,428 minutes, roughly one every six hundred minutes. It is worth saying what is missing as well. Public sources do not carry the data you would need to judge a defender: aerial duels won, balls recovered, passing accuracy when playing out. The only assist figure available is zero in Ligue 1. Even the centimetres are uncertain, with sources differing between 1.85 and 1.88 m.
The biggest gap is not statistical, it is one of sample: a single full season in a major league. A centre-back is judged on repetition, because it is in the second and the third year that the lapses in concentration and the duels handled badly under fatigue come out.
The second layer: the model of the club that sold him
Nice signed him from Norrköping on 25 July 2025 for a fee that public accounts put at around 2.5 million euros, never confirmed by the clubs. They made him an immediate starter, took him to 43 matches and 1 goal, and watched him leave the season with a World Cup call-up.
Thirteen months later they sold him on. On 2 October 2025 Oppong started at the Şükrü Saracoğlu in Fenerbahçe’s 2-1 Europa League win over Nice, coming off on 80 minutes. In the same stadium, on 29 August 2026, he signed saying he already knew its atmosphere. At Nice he wore 37, while the Turkish club has not yet confirmed his shirt number.
Çetin explained the signing with the return to the Champions League after eighteen years and with the need to spread the load of matches: he is not bought as the designated starter, but as one of the centre-backs in a squad that has to cope with three competitions.
There are three things to watch. How often he starts, after a place in the side that came straight away at Nice. Whether the cards stay few in a league he does not know. And whether, by June 2027, he will have put together a second consecutive full season: then the valuation people are talking about today will have been a low one, and part of it will still go to the club that sold him.
